A second revisiting

Found objects and video 2005
While continuing discussions on histories of places and
commoditized objects,
the intent of this piece is to create a sort of shrine that refers to
the ritual place
that was created when Rui Sekido performed in the Eyedrum parking lot.
Through
his use of the bamboo and rope, he initially aestheticized them, maybe
even
blessed them. My use and reuse of those things extends their life spans
as
aestheticized objects. The use of solar energy to light it is a bonus
that adds
the element of it being directly connected to the source that allows all
of us to
even be here. I’d like to thank Peter Bahouth for lending me his
solar setup and
Duane Georges for help with the installation. |
