CHALLENGE: Your employment situation has changed and you need to acquire new skills to enhance your viability.
SOLUTION: Working side-by-side with you, or virtually, I will coach you on a variety of computer and web-based applicationsincluding, but not limited to, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, WordPress, and others as specified. These learning opportunities are not intended to make you an expert on these applications but will prepare you to operate with basic proficiency, and to expand on that working knowledge through self-learning.
CASE STUDY 1: A scientist decided to make a career change and wanted to learn how to create an effective web presence to promote the various activities she had in mind. She had already set a WordPress.org account and needed help starting her blog. Together we covered the basic concepts so that she could self-learn to gain more proficiency. We also discussed streamlining social networking by integrating Facebook and Twitter add-ons. Since she wanted a new headshot, I was able to recommend a photographer from my professional network.
CASE STUDY 2: A marketing associate remained employed while many of her co-workers were downsized. As responsibilities increased she had to learn enough Photoshop to do simple image editing for the web and for print production. We covered the basics starting with appropriate uses of CYMK and RGB color spaces, and the file formats TIFF, JPG, GIF, and PNG. From there we moved on to image editing techniques, such as cropping and resizing, brightness/contrast adjustment, typography, and automated processes including Save for Web and Devices, and Web Photo Galleries. |
