Each element of the assemblage has changed in perceived value as it
was once a definable commodity (a product or part of a product), then
a piece of junk and now as an element in an artwork, it perhaps has
achieved a new indefinable value. In the case of New Windsor, NY location,
I found it interesting that the site (selected solely because of the
objects found there) contains an historical marker referring to the
fact that New Windsor played a pivotal role in the American Revolutionary
War as the British attempted to move south and east to NYC.
The New Windsor, NY 2003 assemblage measures 10" x 5",
is wall hung and ideally spot lit in a darkened area; the video is presented
on an LCD monitor housed within a kiosk. Around 6' of wall space and
an electrical outlet are required.
